Floor Head
The Floor Head role is an enhanced community leadership position at LightHouse, bringing together the former House Assistant and Floor Head roles into one. This allows us to provide a more streamlined support system for residents, making it easier for everyone to know who to approach for assistance, guidance, or feedback on their floor.
As a Floor Head, you will work alongside LightHouse Residential Life Team and Housing Services to help create a safe, welcoming, and well-supported living environment for your fellow residents. Floor Heads will reside in the designated 'F' rooms on each level, making them easily accessible to the community.
Some of the responsibilities include:
- Being a friendly point of contact for resident feedback, concerns, and incidents
- Sharing useful information and helping residents navigate hostel life
- Contributing to the overall wellbeing and vibrancy of the LightHouse community (e.g block & floor events)
- Participate and support LightHouse-wide events for the community
- Supporting fire safety initiatives and serving as a Fire Warden
- Reporting maintenance issues when they arise
- Looking after access to the level mailbox and helping to keep shared spaces clean and welcoming
- Supporting cleanliness efforts in the kitchens within your block
As a Floor Head, you'll have the opportunity to make a positive impact on your community, develop valuable leadership and interpersonal skills, and work closely with both staff and student leaders. Floor Heads will continue to receive a 10% housing rebate at the end of each semester, subject to satisfactory performance.
With the introduction of this enhanced role, LightHouse will be investing more resources, support, and development opportunities into the Floor Head programme, creating more meaningful training experiences and opportunities for growth.
