Prof Kok Ming's focus is developing in students the ability to ask the right questions, to empower them with the capabilities to make a difference for our collective future. He holds the Outstanding Educator Award, the university's highest teaching accolade and is currently the Assistant Dean in the College of Design & Engineering. An NUS alumnus, Prof Kok Ming is also a registered architect and a member of the Singapore Board of Architects.
A Doctor Struggles With Our Human Condition In War
Dr. Hakim is a medical doctor from Singapore who has done humanitarian and social enterprise work in Afghanistan for 18 years, including being a friend and mentor to the Afghan Peace Volunteers, an inter-ethnic group of young Afghans dedicated to building non-violent alternatives to war. He is the 2012 recipient of the International Pfeffer Peace Prize.
In this chat, Dr. Hakim will share how his life in a war-torn country has transformed his view of life in Singapore and the world.

Ms Wen-yi Lee is the author of YA horror 'The Dark We Know' and a forthcoming Singaporean historical fantasy 'When They Burned the Butterfly'.
Her work has also appeared in venues including Uncanny, Lightspeed and Strange Horizons, as well as in various anthologies.
Her work has been supported by the Carl Brandon Society's Octavia E Butler Memorial Scholarship, National Arts Council of Singapore and the Norwich National Centre of Writing.
